About Me: The Top 10 Version

Texas bluebonnet family pictures

About Me pages are so hard. Ask ANYONE who has ever written one. You feel like a conceited jerk if you say all the great things in  your life, but who wants to be a debbie downer? (plus…my life as A Southern Mom is pretty great!).

I could tell you all about how my kids are awesome and my husband is amazing.

Or I could tell you the heartbreaking story about losing my mom to ovarian cancer at the age of 12. Followed by losing my big sister at the age of 13 (5 months to the day after my mom).

Honestly though, I hope that you’ll read through my blog and you’ll get to know me that way. You’ll learn more about me by reading the archives of this blog than I could ever tell you in a quick About Me. You’ll learn the good, the bad and the ugly.

I hope you’ll read about how much I love queso and that I can make my own cream of chicken soup. On the other hand, I want you to know that I’m human and sometimes I LOSE IT with my kiddos.

Maybe you are more interested in my crafty side?

Or maybe you just came here to find tips on organizing your crazy, hectic, beautiful and messy life from one hopeless ADD over committed mother to another? (yep, I’m your girl there)

For those of you that want a quick about me at a glance though, I compiled a quick Top 10! Enjoy!

1. I have 2 kids that are 22 months apart.

2. I live in Texas…but I was born in NYC and lived in NJ until I was 13.

3. I am married to a handsome tech guy 😉 You know you are jealous.

4. I love to eat. I love to cook. I hate to do dishes.

5. I really hate to do dishes y’all.

6. I have another site. It’s a “deal” one. Need a good deal on a kitchen gadget? I’m your gal 😉

7. I am an avid reader. I love to read and I am not very picky. I’ll read just about anything. Except non fiction. Yuck.

8. I love to try out new products. I love to tell people about things I love. I am loyal to a fault and will shout the things I love from a rooftop!

9. I have a bucket list a mile long. One day maybe I’ll publish it!

10. If you are reading this at all, leave me a comment so I know. You will make my day. Maybe my week? Quite possibly my month.

THANK YOU!

Hi there! I’m a health writer for TODAY.com, the website for NBC’s “Today” show, and I’m working on a story about the oil cleansing method. I’ve been looking for someone who was initially skeptical of the OCM but then decided to try it. I found this post from you way back in 2012, and it sounds like you’d be the perfect person for me to talk to! Let me know if you’re interested in chatting with me about your experience with the OCM (whether you’re still doing it or not!). Shoot me an email at melissa[dot]dahl[at]gmail[dot]com. Thanks! – Melissa

You are so right! the About Me section is like the HARDEST part of blogging – I worked on mine for like two weeks and I feel like it could still use some work.

Love your blog so far, excited to “meet” you even more!

    Hi Heather,

I hope all is well with you! My name is Jane Wu Brower. I’m reaching out because I recently started up my own company that is like the Skimm for sports, called Goalposte (goalposte.com).

It is a daily newsletter that summarizes the big stories in sports, in a fun and accessible way. It targets an audience of casual sports fans or novices who might find sports a bit intimidating. It provides updates on the major sports news of the day as well as context and primers. For example, I’ve drafted up a primer on this week’s Super Bowl http://www.goalposte.com/super-bowl-50-primer/.

Please pass it along if you think it may be of interest to your members!

Thank you so much for your help!

    Jane

I saw a link to your blog on a BSA site for scouting. A fellow scouting Mom, I was curious and read many of your blogs & links Some really good stuff in here 🙂 Nice job & I’m looking forward to making your Dr Pepper ribs soon! Lol, the only issue being if my 8 year old likes them better than his Dads Smoked ribs we may have a mini family feud going on lol.

    Take Care, Jo
