Breaded Chicken: How to Make Breaded Chicken Breast

Do you want to learn how to make breaded chicken? This breaded chicken recipe is very versatile! You can use this to make chicken parmesan, or just pair the breaded chicken with a starch and some veggies for a complete meal!

breaded chicken

This recipe is simple simple SIMPLE!

However, it’s a worthwhile dish to have in your back pocket for those days you need to get something on the table quick.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that you need to eat this breaded chicken as is though. Top it with some spaghetti sauce and mozzarella and you’ll have a tasty chicken parmesan.

Cut it up into strips for a tasty topping for a chicken salad with a bit of crunch (I LOVE eating it cold this way!).

Because we simply fry up this chicken for appearances and texture, and we don’t cook it all the way through in oil, it’s also a much healthier alternative to fried chicken.

Let me teach you how to make breaded chicken (and if you already know how, forward this recipe to the college kids and newlyweds in your life…that’s when I learned how to make it!)!

Breaded Chicken Recipe

chicken breast breaded

Ingredients:

  • Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast
  • 2-3 eggs
  • Italian Breadcrumbs (instead of breadcrumbs, you can just use flour and season the flour. This makes a different kind of breaded chicken, but it’s still great!)
  • Olive Oil

Directions:

  1. First you are going to want to pound your chicken thin. You can use something like this: OXO Good Grips Meat Tenderizer or you can use a heavy can (although be careful to pound the chicken evenly). Layer your chicken breast inside of some plastic wrap, or put it inside a gallon freezer bag. Pound the chicken to about 1/3″ thickness.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Put a large pan on the stove and drizzle the bottom with olive oil so it’s well coated. Go ahead and start heating up the oil slowly.
  3. Take two bowls and pour breadcrumbs (or flour) into one bowl (start off with about a 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs, you can add more if you need more) and scramble your eggs in another bowl.
  4. Dip your chicken breast into the egg mixture first and then into the breadcrumb mixture, being sure that all sides are coated.
  5. If the oil is hot, go ahead and add your chicken breast to the pan, being sure not to crowd it. (you can do this in 2 batches if you need to!)
  6. Flip the chicken breast when it browns on the first side in order to brown it on the other side.
  7. Grab a baking sheet and spray it with cooking spray.
  8. Layer your browned chicken breast on the baking sheet. When all chicken breasts are browned, put the baking sheet in your preheated oven for about 25 minutes.
  9. Chicken is done when the juices run clear when you cut into it.

Scrumptious! We love this breaded chicken recipe. It’s simple and quick and you can even recruit the kiddos to help you with it! Use this breaded chicken recipe as a jumping off point for your own creations. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
