Are you trying to figure out how to organize your kids clothing for back to school? Make your mornings go smoother with this super simple and low cost clothing organization idea! These tips for organizing your kid's school clothes will make a HUGE difference to your school day mornings! #clothingorganization #organizationtips #clothingorganizationwithkids  If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen this little tip already.

In previous years, it was all I could do to set out the day’s clothing for school the night before. I’m not sure why, but picking out clothes for my kids was always such a chore (which is odd, because I LOVE these years of dressing them with very little resistance. I know it won’t last long!).

I knew with TWO kids in elementary school this year, I would need a better and more streamlined system for clothing organization. (For more school morning hacks, click here)

When myself and my sisters were younger, my stepmom had an elaborate calendar system set up so that we would use all of our clothing and rotate items often (there were 4 young girls and of course budget concerns to think about!).

I’m kind of a mess though, and I do not  have warm, fuzzy memories of that system anyway, so I knew that would not work for my family (plus, my gosh…way too much work).

Yesterday when I was walking through the garage though, I passed these buckets. 5 buckets that I bought at Walmart forever ago for whatever reason (I don’t remember what I paid, but it certainly wasn’t the price Amazon is asking for them).

Five!

The perfect count for a week’s worth of clothing!

I set out to make labels (I used Avery 18163 labels that I  had leftover from our fun Easter Peep S’mores) and slapped them on the buckets.

Each bin has socks, clothes and accessories (if necessary) for each day of the week. On the labels, I note whether the kids have PE that day, since that does dictate wardrobe choices (primarily for my daughter). Also, Friday’s are often Spirit Days, so I noted that on the label as well.

If you have older children, or even younger children that enjoy picking out their own clothing, let them fill the buckets.

I’ll also use these bins if something needs to go to the school on Wednesday, and not on Monday, but I don’t trust myself to be able to keep track until Wednesday 😉 . Into the bin it goes!

We start school tomorrow, so we’ll see if this works out long term (Note: it is now 2018 and we STILL USE THIS SYSTEM!). This backpack system from last year though is still going strong though!

How do you organize clothing for the school week?

Honestly right now, just on a tall chair we have in a hallway. Not a perfect solution, but it works well for us.
