Copycat Cosmic Brownies – Made from Scratch in YOUR Kitchen!

copycat cosmic brownies

Brownies. Really really really good brownies are probably my favorite dessert item of all time.

Mediocre brownies rank pretty high up there too.

It should come as no surprise that prepackaged preservative filled Cosmic Brownies by Little Debbie are not allowed in my house. I will eat several packages in one sitting! Oh so sad, but oh so true.

CosmicBrownie

When I stumbled upon this Copycat Cosmic Brownie recipe from Life Made Simple, I knew I had to give it a shot.

Could it be possible? Could I use REAL ingredients like butter, sugar, eggs, cocoa powder and end up with a Cosmic Brownie result?

It was worth a shot.

You see, I’m a real sucker for a copycat recipe.

Sometimes, those copycat recipes end up as complete and total misses.

Sometimes, they end up as total hits:

  • Homemade Hamburger Helper Recipe Cheeseburger Macaroni
  • Homemade Cream of Chicken Soup – You Can Ditch the Can!
  • 3 Ingredient Devil`s Food Cake Muffins (like an Otis Spunkmeyer Chocolate Chip Muffin)
  • Frugal Recipes: Garlic Cheddar “Copycat Red Lobster” Biscuits
  • Copy Cat Williams Sonoma Peppermint Bark Recipe

In this case, I’m going to say these Cosmic Brownies are a HIT. They aren’t identical to the pre-packaged stuff, but they stand on their own as really good and tasty brownies.

I did not have the fun little multicolored chocolate chip candy topping that typically decorated Cosmic Brownies, so I used rainbow sprinkles instead.

I did, however, find this Wilton Rainbow Chip Crunch on Amazon AFTER making these brownies. I’m going to order some for the next time I make these!

These were a HUGE hit with the kiddos. My children loved them and my nephews thought they were amazing! One of my nephews said, “You are the best baker! You should sell  your baking because you are so good!”

What a sweetheart, he deserves a 2nd brownie! (shh, don’t tell my SIL…he totally got a 2nd brownie!)

I admittedly did not change anything about this recipe and made it completely as is. So to get the full recipe and ingredient list, please head over to Life Made Simple!

I do have some tweaks I am considering in the future and will add to this post if they work out!

Enjoy!
