Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe
Did you know you can make it yourself with simple spices you likely have in your pantry right now?
You’ll find your homemade taco seasoning recipe will be much more flavorful than the kind you buy in the packets at the grocery store.
I make up a batch of this stuff every few weeks and use it for several dishes we eat on a regular basis. Not just tacos!
This mixture is a combination of several taco seasoning recipes I’ve tried over the years. You might find that you want to change up some of the quantities of the spices to suit the tastes of your family as well!
Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Directions:
Mix all of the spices together in an airtight container and shake it up. Add 2-3 tablespoons of the seasoning per pound of meat. For taco meat, cook until browned and then add the taco seasoning.
I usually add a couple of tablespoons of water to the meat as well.
Let simmer for 5 minutes or so.
Enjoy!
So tasty!
Thank you! We eat tacos once a week (more if I allowed it!) so this recipe is perfect for us. Now I’ll no longer need to make sure I have store-bought packets on hand.
We do too! Tacos are the perfect food, LOL
Thank you! This is perfect! We use taco seasoning in so many meals, I can’t believe we’re still paying for the packets. Not anymore!
Looks wonderful, I think I shall have a go this weekend. My secret ingredient to loads of things is Woicestershrre Sauce. Add it to pie filling, omelettes, baked beans, tin veg, even chilli and curries and also hotspots, stew, the list is endless.
Thank you for this awesome recipe! Do you know if this is roughly equivalent to one envelop of store bought taco seasoning?
It makes quite a bit more!
