Oh boy y’all…football season is HERE.
I’m from Texas and we take our college football seriously down here. Actually, it doesn’t matter if it’s PeeWee (which my daughter cheers for) or college, we enjoy it all!
I have to admit though, I think some of us like football season for more than just the football.
College football season to me means:
1. Fun with friends and family
2. FOOD
Has anyone EVER watched a football game without food? Is it possible? Probably, but why would you want to try?
We’re big on game day treats in our household and I try to keep us well stocked.
I was contacted to check out the Dr Pepper® and Kroger’s Game Day Greats program recently and I figured…why not? It’s not like it’s not exactly what I would be doing anyway?
Head to Kroger for goodies? Check!
Buy some Dr Pepper® and ribs? Check!
Make dip? Buy crackers for dip? Duh?!
Now that the kids are in school, I can thankfully head to my nearby Kroger on my own. Our Kroger is just right outside our neighborhood and is actually on my way to and from the school where I drop my kids off. The convenience has me popping in there often to grab this or that.
The ribs were on special, so I got a GREAT deal.
Did you have any idea there were so many varieties of Town House® crackers, Club® Crackers, and Cheez-It® crackers? Yum! These will go perfectly with the dips I am planning to make!
I made it out of Kroger with very minimal damage to my wallet thanks to all of the great deals available via the Game Day Greats sale.
Once I get home, it was time to get cooking!
We’re big fans of ribs around here, and since I was able to snag such a great deal on ribs, I knew I wanted to make some Dr Pepper® Ribs!
These are so FULL of flavor and so tender and tasty! You will want to make these asap!
Dr Pepper® Ribs
Ingredients:
- (1) 2 Liter bottle of Dr Pepper®
- 2 racks of baby back ribs
- 1/4 cup kosher salt
- 1 T Chili powder
- Your favorite BBQ sauce
Directions:
- Place your ribs into a large bag or baking dish and pour enough Dr Pepper ® over them to cover them completely. Allow to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours (preferably overnight).
- When you are ready to cook, preheat your oven to 350 degrees
- Meanwhile, dry off your ribs and rub them with the chili powder.
- Add your ribs to a baking dish with one cup of water and bake about 2 hours or until very tender
- Remove the ribs from the oven and either heat up the grill or a large grill pan on your stove.
- Brush your bbq sauce all over your ribs and cook until it starts getting dark and smoky.
Enjoy!
I made a few other recipes on this day that I’ll be sharing in the future so be sure to come back to check those out!
